SHELTER ADMISSION CRITERIA

GARF provides a temporary home for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. Victims and their family members must be fleeing a domestic violence and/or sexual assault situation. Admission into the shelter is determined on a case by case basis. Male victims of domestic violence and sexual assault are provided alternative shelter. GARF does not shelter homeless / transient populations; referrals are made to other agencies.

Victims and their children could be eligible for shelter under the following conditions:

Victims are fleeing a physically, emotionally or sexually abusive or potentially abusive home situation
Victims are not able to stay with friends or relatives logistically or for safety reasons
Victims are eighteen years of age married or legally emancipated
Victims have agreed to abide by house rules and confidentiality regulations
Victim cannot be under the influence of drugs or over the legal limit of blood alcohol content at the time
