GILLETTE ABUSE REFUGE FOUNDATION -- Service Eligibility

The Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation (G.A.R.F) provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Our services are also available to friends, family and other support persons to help them better understand the crisis the victim is experiencing.

G.A.R.F. SERVICES:

  • Advocacy
  • Twenty-Four Hour Crisis Line
  • Shelter
  • Support Groups
  • Information and Referral
  • Clothing and Household Items
  • Crime Victim's Compensation
  • Community Education
  • Children's Program
  • Sexual Assault Program
  • Volunteer Program
  • Resource Library

Initially, we will provide direct services primarily to women and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Those of us working with abused people must consider each victim in context and examine our own personal attitude, biases, beliefs and misconceptions. The same events may have totally different meanings from different cultural, religious, economic, historical and political perspectives. An option or alternative for one person may be another person's barrier. Norms, perceptions, humor and values vary from one person to another. We will strive to reach all people through publicity, program and word-of-mouth. G.A.R.F. will not discriminate against or refuse services for a victim because of race, disability, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ancestry or citizenship.

Children frequently become victims of abuse and violence. We will work in schools, as we are permitted, with our education program to promote prevention and reporting by young victims of sexual assault and dating violence. Our crisis line is available to provide advocacy for child victims. We will make referrals and follow-up care plans as appropriate with coordinating agencies.

Our community education programs will be available to all and any individuals living in Campbell County. We will promote community understanding and awareness of the problems and realities of sexual assault and family violence. Our goal is to increase reporting, community support, knowledge of our services and the prevention of these types of violence.
